What’s New in iOS 16.4 for iPhone Users?

Apple has recently released iOS 16.4, the latest update for its iPhone operating system. This update brings some new features and improvements that iPhone users will love. Here are some of the highlights of iOS 16.4:

1.New Emoji

iOS 16.4 adds 31 new emoji to your iPhone keyboard, based on Unicode’s Emoji 15.0 standard. These include a shaking smiley face, a hand fan, a moose, a goose, and new heart colors. You can use these emoji to express yourself more creatively and diversely in your messages and social media posts.

2.Voice Isolation

Voice isolation is a feature that reduces background noise during phone calls, making your voice clearer and more audible to the other person. This feature was previously available only for FaceTime calls, but now it works for cellular calls too. You can enable voice isolation in the Control Center under Mic Mode while on a call.

3.Web Push Notifications

iOS 16.4 also introduces web push notifications for Safari, the default web browser on iPhone. This means that you can opt in to receive notifications from websites that you have saved to your Home Screen, such as news sites, blogs, or online stores. For example, you can get notified when a new article is published or when a product is on sale.

4.Apple Books Update

Apple Books is the app that lets you read ebooks and audiobooks on your iPhone. iOS 16.4 brings back the page-turn curl animation that was removed in a previous update. This animation mimics the look and feel of turning a physical page in a book, making your reading experience more realistic and immersive.

5.Music App Changes

The Music app has some minor changes in iOS 16.4 as well. When you add a song to your queue, you will see a small banner at the bottom of your screen instead of a full-screen pop-up. Also, when you go to your Library and tap on an artist, you will see an icon for that artist at the top of the page. Tapping on the icon will take you to the artist’s Music page.

6.Apple Podcasts Updates

Apple Podcasts is the app that lets you listen to podcasts on your iPhone. iOS 16.4 adds a Channels tab to your Library, which shows you different networks that you follow, such as NPR, BBC, or TED. You can also access a search bar within each channel to find specific episodes or topics.

These are some of the new features that iOS 16.4 brings to your iPhone. If you haven’t updated yet, you can do so by going to Settings > General > Software Update and tapping on Download and Install. Enjoy!
